July Goal Review

Starting this past December, I started blogging my monthly goals to try and help myself get things accomplished. At the end of each month I post a goal recap to make myself a little more accountable for the goals I set in the beginning of the month.

Ok, let me start by saying that I have not once looked at my goals this month. Oops. :/ I just now pulled up the July Goals post, and it wasn't quite as bad as I thought. At least it's not quite the fail that last month was.  :) Anyway, let's get to reviewing!

1. Organize my closet: somewhat done
My closet definitely looks about 80% better than what it did at the beginning of the month, but it could still use some work!

2. Organize Manny's closet: somewhat done
I pulled everything out of his closet, and put most of it back in somewhat neatly, but it too, needs some work.

3. Organize linen closet: fail
I thought about doing this about 10 different times, but never did. Maybe in August! ;)

4. READ!: Done!
I read a lot in July. Granted, almost all of the reading I did was re-reads of favorite books, but I'm totally counting that! I re-read Nora Roberts' MacKade Brothers series (4 books in all). Then I got going re-reading the Harry Potter series, I started and finished book two, and am now more than half-way through book three.

5. Organize desk area: Done!
Right now it's a little cluttered from the week but after a quick clean-up this afternoon it will be good as new!

6. Pick out invitations: not quite
I've narrowed it down to two, but need to make a final decision.

7. Pick out bridesmaid dresses: Done!
Yay! I totally did this and I love them! One of my girls has even already ordered her dress! Yay! :) Now I just need to find them some shoes...

8. Track spending: Done!
I'm not going to lie and say I've been doing this perfectly, but I'm doing much better than I was in the months previous!

Ok so I'm thinking four out of eight complete is pretty good considering I never even looked at my goals! Now I just have to come up with goals for August...

Did you set goals for this month? How did you do?

My Giant To Do List

Those of you who know me know I love to make lists. Actually, if you've been reading this blog for longer than a month or so, you've probably seen some of my lists. Anyway, there's nothing I love more than checking a bunch of stuff off a really long to do list! Today is one of my last days off before the crap hits the fan at work and I had a giant to do list. And guess what...I did almost all of it! The only thing I haven't finished is writing Thank You notes from my shower...but that, too, is soon to be completed!

Isn't that exciting! I just really needed to share. :)

A Few Updates

I know I've been a little scarce...but life just keeps on rushing by!

First, two weekends ago myself and two other girls (one is a fellow blogger) hosted a bridal shower for our very dear friend!

My friend Nicole's mom made the cupcakes and they were wonderful!

Second, I decided to jump on the bandwagon with Lizy and do a "water week" last week. I did ok. My last "water week" was much more successful. Unfortunately, this week is a really crazy one so I'm trying to balance lots of water intake with enough caffeine to keep me awake through it all!

Third, this past weekend I jetted home for a bridal shower of my own! It was so much fun to be the guest of honor! (Not that I don't also love being the hostess. :) ) We got all sorts of really cool stuff and if any family is reading this blog could y'all pleeeeaaassseeeee post some pictures to Facebook!? :)

That's about all for now! Be back soon (hopefully!).

Water Week

After I got home from a very short run today (which was absurdly painful due to the cramp in my side), I decided I really need to do something about the status of my hydration. Let's just say, for someone training for a 1/2 marathon, I am DE-hydrated. Seriously, it's really sad. I just have such an attachment to Diet Coke and other drinks of the like.

So when I heard that my friend Lizy was doing a water week, I decided to jump on the bandwagon! Manny and I have done this once before and we tryed to kick our habit by simply not having soft drinks in the house anymore. But that's not enough, especially not right now. So, off I go!

Here's the rules:
1. One non-water beverage per day.
2. No cheating.

Wish me luck!!!

1/2 Marathon Training Update

I'm pretty sure the last time I updated, I wasn't doing a whole lot of anything towards preparing for this 1/2 marathon looming ahead. I had found a "plan", but that was about it. Since then I've actually been hitting the pavement and ran 5.2 miles this morning! That may be peanuts to some of you more experienced runners but that's farther than I've ever run in. my. life.! YAY!

About that 5.2 miles...It did NOT feel good. Seriously, my feet hurt, my stomach hurt, and one of my toenails decided to gouge one of my other toes and make it bleed. Is running always this painful!? One thing I know will help is to hydrate better. Diet Coke and coffee are my best friends and I find it really hard to give them up. :)

Anyone have any advice? Or do I just need to suck it up and power through?

from clutterbug to clean freak

Any of you who know me personally know that I'm a bit of a clutterbug. However, this characteristic of mine has been bugging me (no pun intended) for quite some time. As I've gotten older, I've really wanted to be the kind of person who has a neat, clean, well kept house. I don't want y'all to think I'm some crazy hoarder or something (though I do have some hoarding "tendencies") but I so envy those homes where every little thing has it's place, and is kept there. :)

Well, I'm hosting a bridal shower for a friend this weekend and this one is going to be at my house. I enlisted the help of a friend because I knew I wanted my downstairs to be absolutely spotless for the shower. After 11 hours of cleaning and organizing, it looks amazing! The hardest thing for me is going to be keeping up with this after the shower. However, thanks to my best friend, I found this planner to help keep me on track. The planner is called the Motivated Moms planner, and I know I'm not a mom, but I'm still responsible for keeping our house clean (or at least that's how I feel).

However, now that the downstairs looks amazing. I need to tackle our bedroom. I may be a little too embarassed to post "before" pictures as the clutter up there has gotten really out of hand. Although I did take some pictures a while ago.... Anyway, look for some Operation Organize updates soon!

July Goals

Starting this past December, I began making a list of monthly goals and posting them here. I find that posting goals on my blog helps keep me a little more accountable. :)

Ok, so I know these are almost hopelessly late but I have so much going on right now that I have to practically make a To Do list to remember to look at my To Do list. I have many many more goals and things to get accomplished this month other than what's on this list (which is probably why it took me so long to post this) but I figured I needed to just go ahead and get this up! :)

1. Organize my closet.
2. Organize Manny's closet.
3. Organize linen closet.
4. READ!
5. Organize desk area.
6. Pick out invitations.
7. Pick bridesmaids' dress.
8. Track spending.

PS, some of my very own pictures are being featured over at my best friend's blog today! You should click over and check her out, not just for the pictures, but also because her blog is awesome!!!

One Good Picture

Yesterday I ventured out to take some pictures of my freshly weeded garden. I got one good picture. Just the one. And it's only kind of ok.

I've decided that if I want to take better pictures...then I probably need to pick up the camera more than once every 3 months. :) More thoughts on that coming soon...
